Holder of a post-graduate degree (DEA) in political science, Philippe Labi began his career with Radio-France Internationale from 1985 to 1987 and then at Le Point from 1987 to 1990. He joined VSD as Deputy Editor in Chief from 1990 to 1995.

From 1996 to 1998, he was Editor in Chief of Télé Star then Editorial Director of the TV arm of EMAP. He then went on to join the Prisma Presse Group as Editor in Chief of Gala, then editor of the magazines Femme and Gala from 1998 to 2001. From 2001 to 2004, he was Director of Information and Information Magazines at M6.
Philippe Labi returned to the Prisma Presse Group as editor of VSD in August 2004.

In April 2006, he was also appointed editor of Voici and Gala. In September 2007, he was also made editor of the Television division of Prisma Presse, which includes Télé-Loisirs, Prisma TV, Télé 2 Semaines (launched in January 2004) and TV Grandes Chaînes (launched in April 2004).
