As the leading magazine company in Europe and the parent
company of the Prisma Presse Group, Gruner + Jahr (whose headquarters
are based in Hamburg) publishes approximately 300 magazines and daily
newspapers in more than 20 countries.
Founded in 1965 and chaired by Mr Bernd Kundrun, G+J is owned by two
shareholders: the Bertelsmann Group (74.9%) and the Jahr Group (25.1%). |

G+J's main activity is the publishing of
magazines all over the world.
In
Germany, G+J is the leading press publisher, with over 50 magazines
(Stern, Capital, Geo, Gala, Brigitte, Essen und Trinken, Schöner
Wohnen, etc.) and thus covers all reader interest areas with very
powerful brands.
The
group's international activities (outside Germany) accounted for
more than 50% of G+J's turnover in 2007. More than 200 magazines are
published by the group's subsidiaries in France, Spain, Italy, Poland,
Russia, China, Austria and the Netherlands. Prisma Presse in Paris
is the main international subsidiary of G+J. |
